Cameron Akioka

Pianist

“a musician with impressive aplomb and virtuosity.” —LA Opus 23

Hello there!

My name is Cami, and I’m a classically trained pianist based in the Chicago area. Here you can find my biography, various solo and collaborative performances, a schedule of upcoming events and more :)

A little bit about me: I am a native Californian who now currently lives in Evanston, Illinois as a first-year Doctor of Musical Arts student (you can probably guess how I’m handling the cold and windy weather over here). My all-time favorite composers include both Schumanns, Beethoven, Bach and Stravinsky; my favorite solo and chamber pieces are R. Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes and Schubert’s Piano Trio No. 2 in E-Flat Major. Aside from sitting at the keyboard, I enjoy baking Japanese desserts, playing tennis with family (fortunately not a pickleball enthusiast), attending Dodger games, decoding Virginia Woolf novels and drawing characters from the anime I most recently binge-watched.

I also love to write—although things have gotten a bit rusty ever since receiving my bachelor’s in English Literature. One of my current long-term goals is to create a concert series that reflects the intersections between literary and musical expression, whether that be poetry to song cycles, characters to fugal subjects and more.

For this website, I also hope to run a consistent music (+ misc. stuff like literature, art, culture, etc.) blog and further develop my skills as a writer.

Thanks for checking out my page! You can read more about me below :)
